Alternators

Having a problem with your alternator or generator can wreck havoc with your vehicle's electrical system. Basically your vehicle needs the alternator to keep the battery charged, an alternator is designed to maintain a battery not charge a battery. Therefore the first place to check for problems is the battery. A marginal or weak battery will cause the alternator to work harder and harder and it will ultimately fail and need replacing.

The first sign of a problem is weak starts, dim headlights, radio quits playing, air conditionings works intermittently, the list is long but these are quick to notice when you drive the car daily. At this point your charging system needs to be checked.

The problem may be as simple as replacing the battery, note...only after it has been recharged manually and test have been done to evaluate the battery alone.

Never, Never let someone change your alternator or generator without a fully charged battery to start with. This is where we start, with the battery, if we do not have the time because you are in a hurry to fully charge your battery before a test is done on your electrical system we provide a fresh hot battery to do this test as part of our diagnostics procedures. Once we determine a good battery is in your vehicle we begin our test to find the output of your existing alternator. We then do a load test with all vehicle equipment turned on and determine the precise reading of the alternator.

ALL ALTERNATORS are not the same, please be cautious of cheap "knock-offs" some discount warehouses offer, these "knock-off's are cheap imitations of the original units on your vehicle and in Texas will not survives the first 100 degree day under the best of conditions. You may think you are getting a bargain but who has to put that alternator on your vehicle? You or a friend, be prepared to do it again and again. did you have to pay your friend, it's not their fault the alternator failed.

We use original equipment manufacture parts and we stand behind our products and service. Some parts, even the best sometime fail, in the event our alternator does not perform as expected we offer a no hassle warranty, PARTS and LABOR. And here again we come back to the battery. We tested your battery and it worked well when you left our shop, but a battery has a limited life and hot weather as well as cold weather effects it's performance greatly. If lights have been left on several times it will destroy a battery and the alternator is working harder to charge the battery and the quality of that alternator is effected greatly. However if the alternator fails for any reason we take care of the alternator plus the additional labor to install it, PERIOD.
